Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on the Bowdoin Scientific Station on Kent Island, a Canadian island owned by Bowdoin College of Brunswick. Its director, Nat Wheelwright, is a professor of biology and evolutionary ecology at Bowdoin. For over 60 years, a select group of biologists from all over the world have spent time conducting field research on Kent Island, which is in the Bay of Fundy and is rich in both bird life and weather. With details about recent attempts to commercialize the island, and an account of a visit recently made to the island by the author.
