Abstract

"News" piece on $600,000 in fines levied by the Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) against three biomass energy plants owned by Christopher Hutchins of Bangor, who also owns Maine Times. Hutchins criticized the BEP's procedures and BEP officials as unfriendly to business. Two of the plants, in Livermore Falls and Ashland, were sold earlier this month to Boralex, a Canadian company. The third, in Chester, has been dismantled and will be moved south.
