Abstract

"News" piece on events of significance along Maine's underutilized rail system. A freight-handling railroad terminal on the St. Lawrence & Atlantic rail line in Auburn has grown to become the largest "port" in Maine, eclipsing Portland, Searsport and Eastport in containerized cargo. And the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad has announced the possible sale of its entire system in hopes of preventing its dismemberment in bankruptcy court. With details about both developments.
