Abstract

"News" piece on the first draft of a much-debated brochure being developed by the Bureau of Health that informs dental clients about medical and environmental hazards of mercury in their fillings. The Maine Toxics Action Coalition says the brochure does not meet the statutory requirement, nor the intent set forward by legislation passed last year requiring the bureau to develop a brochure detailing the potential advantages and disadvantages to oral health, overall human health and the environment of using mercury amalgam in dental procedures. The bureau has agreed to revise the brochure, which must be finalized by the end of the legislative session.
