Abstract

"News" piece on warnings from the University of Maine that genetically engineered (GE) corn may be contaminating organically grown crops. John Jemison, a researcher at the UMaine Cooperative Extension, says GE Roundup Ready field corn seed is turning up in supplies of non-GE open-pollinated varieties and recommends organic growers take extra precautions. With details about the contamination and steps organic growers can take to prevent it.
