Abstract
Maine Public Advocate Steve Ward overruled his staff members and signed off on an agreement that allows Bell Atlantic to raise basic service charges. Members of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Maine People's Alliance are wondering if Ward was pressured by the King administration to change his views. Ward admitted his move was designed to be in step with other departments in the administration. The Maine Public Utilities Commission will vote on the matter. Details.
