Abstract

Tim Caverly, manager of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, says people started lining up at 1 P.M. on December 12 to be first in line the next day to reserve winter RV sites at the Chamberlain Thoroughfare and Kellogg Brook parking lots. The lots are rented by the month on a first-come, first-serve basis, mostly to ice fishing parties. All 48 sites were sold within 90 minutes. Conservationists on the Allagash advisory committe support phasing out the campground.
