Abstract

The Portland investment firm of F.L. Putnam has half of its $400 million portfolio in socially responsible investments. Vance Gray of American Express Financial Advisors in Bangor hasn't seen a marked increase for socially responsible funds. Social investing is a highly individualized strategy, and it can take substantial research to determine if corporations are socially responsible. Some investment brokers question whether social investing has much of an effect on corporate behavior.
