Maine officials say a boom in fall tourism reflects a national trend toward more mature and sophisticated travelers. The Maine tourist season, which used to run from Memorial Day to Labor Day, now starts the second week in July and runs into mid-October, according to officials of Maine's Office of Tourism. With information about what attracts tourists, their activities, their numbers and economic statistics.
