Abstract
Kenetech Windpower, the nation's largest wind energy corporation, has proposed installing 639 wind turbines along 20.8 miles of ridgeline on Kibby and Caribou mountains and the Kibby Range. The project, to be developed in two phases over the next four years, would eventually generate 210 megawatts, one-third of the power produced by the Maine Yankee nuclear power plant. Although there are some potential problems with the project, four environmental groups recently agreed to support it, with conditions. Details.
