Abstract

The state Board of Pesticide Control last week held a two-day hearing in Ellsworth on the use of the herbicide Velpar by the blueberry industry. Velpar has been credited with tripling blueberry crop yields since its introduction ten years ago, but recent tests have found the chemical in water supplies in Franklin, Aurora and Gouldsboro.
