Abstract

The three-day WoodenBoat Show in Southwest Harbor last weekend drew 8,000 visitors who paid an admission fee of $7.50 each. The show has been held in Newport, Rhode Island, in recent years, but many observers feel it should be held in the same state where WoodenBoat magazine is published. The number of wooden boat afficianados seems to be growing, due to the aesthetic qualties of wooden construction and the fact that fiberglass boats are not maintenance-free as advertised.
