Abstract

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joseph Brennan was a popular and effective governor from 1979 to 1987, but his reputation as a consumate man of the party has resulted in charges of cronyism that follow him to this day. A few vintage Brennanites are directly involved in the current campaign, but many of the key players in the campaign are individuals who supported Tom Allen in the primary. Allen and Richard Barringer, who was also one of Brennan's opponents in the primary, now back Brennan. Details.
