Abstract

The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission met in November to consider a proposal by Kenetech Windpower Inc. to build a windfarm along the Boundary Mountains, and some commissioners expressed concern about the size of the project. Kenetech's windfarm would be the biggest east of the Mississippi River, with 639 turbines across 20.3 miles of ridgetop. LURC chairman Steve Wight said he would like to see a small demonstration wind plant to see whether the technology can hold up under winter conditions. Details.
