Abstract

Monhegan Island lobstermen were denied in their appeal to the state to ban draggers from within two miles of the island for the month of January. The lobstermen made the request because they feared a turf battle, but outgoing Department of Marine Resources Commissioner William Brennan refused. Most draggers were opposed to losing the grounds even for one month.
