Abstract

The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission recently levied a $26,500 fine against Bowater Inc. for land use violations involving Third Debsconeag Lake, Dole Brook, Logan Ponds, Messer Pond, Clish Pond and Roberts Pond. LURC agreed to treat the six cases as one, and levied what has been described as the absolutely minimum penalty. LURC is allowing Bowater to use an illegal road built within a protected zone through this winter and until December 15, 1995. Details.
