Abstract

Supporters of the proposed state wildlife lottery this week announced they have gathered more than 53,000 signatures, slightly more than the 51,108 required to put the referendum issue on the November ballot. A Maine Audubon Society official said the lottery could raise up to $8 million annually for conservation, with the money placed in a dedicated fund. Details.
