Abstract

Yellow perch, suckers and eels, all freshwater fish, are facing increased pressure in Maine waters. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife issued around 110 permits for commercial harvesting of freshwater fish last year. Fisheries biologists are not sure of the effects of harvesting on the species, but have met with interested parties and are in the process of revising the rules.
