This view of Bayside from Tukey's Bridge was taken before Portland's City Hall burned in 1908. To the right of the picture is the Portland & Rochester Railroad tracks, leading into Preble Street Station. One of the sluices built to allow for the flow of water, is visible below the railroad track.

Portland Stove Foundry, two mills, Maine Artificial Stone Company, and a freight office were located along Somerset and Kennebec Streets according to the 1900 Portland City Directory.
