Abstract

Short piece about a basket-weaving program at the Somali Bantu Community Association. The 10-year old program brings together four or five women who practice the Somali craft, weaving baskets from palm tree reeds in a new dedicated office space. Looks at the importance of the baskets in traditional Somali society and the role that this craft plays now in the women's lives in Lewiston.
