Abstract
How Oumalkaire Said Barkad parlayed her master's degree from a French university into the equivalent educational and professional credentials required in the United States. Barkad describes in detail how, as a new immigrant, she navigated the complicated systems necessary to have her degree recognized in the U.S., then passed exams to gain American engineering credentials.
