Abstract

"Edge" piece on surfing in Maine. Bill Mozak of South Portland, owner of Bill's Surf and Skate on India Street in Portland, estimates there are around 100 year-round surfers in southern Maine, and maybe 1,000 who surf during the summer. Rich Spies of Portland is the chair of the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a national organization that advocates for offshore water quality and beach access rights. Details.
