Abstract

Rocco DiSanto, the subject of a recent Associated Press article describing his plan to burn old tires for energy, recently sought bankruptcy court protection. DiSanto declared bankruptcy in April 1995, but this spring announced he was no longer insolvent. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has been trying to get Gates Formed-Fibre Products of Auburn to assume responsibility for 4,000 tons of plastic that DiSanto hauled for the company, but Gates denies responsibility for DiSanto's actions.
