Abstract

Mark's Showplace, Portland's only topless dance club, has a policy not to admit women unless they have a male escort. Bill Knowles, attorney for owner Mark Deane, said the policy is a precaution against prostitution. Lynn Cayford of the Maine Bureau of Liquor Licensing said such discriminatory policies could result in a denial of the club's liquor license.
