Abstract

"City" piece on a proposed settlement of enforcement action against the Regional Waste Systems incinerator. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection says RWS has consistently violated its air emissions license since operations began in 1988, and initially demanded fines and environmental remediations totaling $515,000. RWs says its limit for certain emissions are too stringent, particularly when compared to limits given to other trash incinerators in Maine.
