Abstract

In 1988, Harvey Melvin Prager was given an alternative sentence for his role in a marijuana smuggling operation that brought some 24 tons of the weed into Maine from Columbia. Prager, 46, was recently appointed to a clerkship with the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, and his progress in law school has sparked an outcry about the extent to which he has fulfilled the terms of his sentence.
