Abstract

The area around Exit 8 of the Maine Turnpike is host to such retailers as Home Depot, VIP Discount Auto Center and BJ's Wholesale Club. Developers are purchasing house lots in the neighborhood to patch together for superstore locations. The proposed Exit 7B of the Maine Turnpike, which would take some of the pressure off Exit 8, would likely increase development in the area. Residents of Webb, Campbell and other streets are fighting to keep their neighborhoods, and businesses continue to seek zoning changes so they can build in residential areas.
