Abstract

The Portland area might have its first pirate radio station in several years. A station is broadcasting at 97.3 on the FM band, playing mostly music from the 1980s. The Federal Communications Commission reports that there are no stations in Maine or New Hampshire licensed to broadcast at 97.3. Radio engineers who have heard the station say it is operating at ten watts or less.
