Abstract

"Cop beat" piece on the Portland Police Department's continuing failure to produce a meaningful weekly arrest report. The department's latest report, for the week of March 10-16, has headings such as "Escorts," "Pedestrian check," "Person(s) Refusin (sic)," and "Persons Botherin (sic)," but it does not include the names of people who were arrested. With a comparison to the method of public reporting practiced by the Falmouth Police Department, which is complete and open.
