Abstract

Accoustics expert George Izenour says that the balconies in the Portland City Hall Auditorium should be torn out and replaced with more modern seating, while historic preservationists believe they should stay in place. Acoustics expert Lawrence Kirkegaard and the preservationists have a plan designed to keep the balconies and improve acoustics, but city residents must first decide how much more money they want to spend on the project.
