Abstract

On August 27, 1995, Casco Bay Weekly ran story on public sex in the Fine Arts Theater and the Video Expo in Portland. A week after the story was published, Portland police arrested one patron of the Fine Arts Theater and two patrons of the Video Expo on charges of public indecency. Although CBW's original investigation sought to draw attention to the public health hazard of public, anonymous sex, subsequent media attention focused on the public outrage that such activity was occurring in Portland.
