Abstract

"The Talk of Maine" piece on nursing, which is Maine's hottest job market. A recent statewide report found that by next December Maine will need 1,000 more nurses than the 531 who will graduate this year from the state's seven public and private nursing programs. And eight other health care professions, from nurse anesthetists to physical therapists, will see a shortfall of at least 300 trained people. With a range of starting salaries for new nurses in Maine and the names and contact information for the seven public and private nursing programs in the state.
