Abstract

Waltman and Company of Yarmouth was commissioned to construct the first log house on Chebeague Island, and brought in the firm of Bullock and Wiebe of Creemore, Ontario. The finished product is a 4,500-square-foot summer house with massive white-pine logs, some of which are two feet in diameter. The logs are expected to dry and shrink over the next two years, which will necessitate resetting all the doors and windows. Details.
