Abstract

"Making It In Maine" piece on three of the state's small businesses. Renaissance Works of Bethel, owned by Val Seaberg, produces more than 1,000 hats annually; Sow's Ear Winery of Brooksville, owned by Tom Hoey, last autumn harvested and pressed more than six tons of apples to make 170 cases of the only commercially sold alcoholic cider in Maine; and Greetings from Maine of New Gloucester, owned by Susan Vieira, recreates Shaker wooden boxes.
