Abstract

Profile of Gabe and Marcia Williamson, rangers for the past four seasons at Daicey Pond Campground in the southwest corner of Baxter State Park. The Williamsons spend six months of the year advising campers and hikers, cleaning and repairing the twelve rustic cabins, and a myriad of other tasks. Marcia, 46, and Gabe, 42, both are from suburban Greater Portland, and spent a good deal of time in the woods growing up. It was in 1990, when the Williamsons honeymooned at Daicey Pond, that they got to know the rangers they would eventually replace.
