Abstract

"Along the Waterfront" piece reporting that sixty years after artist-sailor Capt. Frank Swift pioneered windjammer cruising Down East in old cargo schooners, Maine Windjammer Cruises, successors to the last of the swift fleet offered to take out any of the fleet's pre-1990 customer for a week's cruise last summer at the original price they paid. About thirty nostalgic fans took up the offer, paying as little as $35 for a six-day trip. Among those fans were Lucille Harrington, of Rochester, New York, who sailed aboard the "Lillian" in 1945, and Mrs. Martha "Mattie" Schneider, Mosher, who sailed sailed aboard the "Mattie"in 1941.
