Abstract

"Making It In Maine," piece on Maine Balsam Fir Products in West Paris, owned by Wendy and Jack Newmeyer, whose business produces some 100,000 balsam pillows a year from salvage discarded by small wood lot owners. Theirs is one of only three such manufacturers in the world, including another in Maine. The demand remains strong for the quintessential Maine souvenir.
