Abstract

"Inside Maine" piece on Great Wass Island, which projects farther out into the sea than anything else in Washington County and provides a wide diversity of habitat to wildlife. Most of the island, which is connected to the town of Beals by a causeway, is owned by The Nature Conservancy. It is famous for its birds and wildflowers.
