Abstract

Magruder "Mac" Passano, 80, "the Bike Man of Chebeague" and a retired zoology professor, has fixed up almost 100 bicycles that he loans out free of charge from his Chebeague Island home. He sometimes has to retrieve bikes from where they have been abandoned on the island, but his project has helped hundreds of day-trippers, summer vacationers, and island residents enjoy the island by bike.
