Abstract

Camden-based architect John Morris designed a "lodge-style" house on a midcoast lake for a Massachusetts couple, setting the house back from the lake and landscaping it to shield it from close neighbors. The design evoked the traditions of lake cottages and was built so as not to overwhelm the smaller cottages around it. Each step of the way, the owners considered the house's impact on the neighbors.
