Abstract

The demand for housesitters in Maine has diminished over the past decade, with high-tech security systems, remodeled and insulated homes, the desire of owners to use their homes at a moment's notice, and an increase in caretaking businesses. Many owners prefer to rent out their homes in the off-season rather than employ housesitters. With anecdotes from several housesitters.
