Abstract

An in-depth look at Hannibal Hamlin of Paris Hill, on the bicentennial of his birthday. Through political maneuvering and to Abraham Lincoln's disappointment, Hamlin was dropped from Lincoln's re-election ticket in favor of Andrew Jackson, who became one of the country's worst presidents after Lincoln's assassination.
