Abstract

"Critters" piece in which the former executive director of Maine Audubon Society talks about seeing his first Eurasian collared-dove in Maine. This native of Turkey colonized western Europe by the 1960s, perhaps causing the decline of numbers of other birds, like the turtle dove. He worries that a similar invasion could occur in Maine. The birds have already established themselves in southern states.
