Abstract

Hannah Semler is Maine's only full-time professional gleaner. She works for Healthy Acadia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health resources and building communities in Hancock and Washington Counties. Working in conjunction with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, she collected surplus produce from area farmers whose products would otherwise go to waste, and delivers them to area food pantries. Her work is described in this article. [images]
