Abstract
A historical perspective on the unintended consequences of embargoes in Maine, starting with 1774 embargo of British goods by the Continental Congress to protest British law, to the more recent call to boycott L.L. Bean products as one of its board members, Linda Bean, gave to money to a Trump super-pac.
