Abstract

North by East: Prepare for Liftoff?

Article describing blueShift Aerospace, based in Brunswick at the former Naval air base. Company founder Sascha Deri plans to launch small satellites from Water Island near Jonesport using his two rockets, Starless Rogue and Red Dwarf. Community concerns about noise and impact on fishing have kept the rockets grounded thus far. Deri continues testing his new MAREVL engines, which run on proprietary biofuel, in Brunswick. Once launch is successful, blueShift Aerospace will be eligible to be a launch provider for NASA’s Flight Opportunities Initiative.
