Abstract

Maine islands have a legacy of moving and recycling buildings. At least 40 buildings have been moved on North Haven, and much has shifted on Vinalhaven, the Cranberry Isles, Islesboro, Monhegan, and islands in Casco Bay. With details on some buildings that have been moved and information on the "House Moves" program on Martha's Vineyard and other models for affordable housing on Maine islands.
