Abstract

The spring of 1993 was one of the best ever for Maine whale watchers and researchers, probably because whales' favorite food, herring, was in abundance. Although the hunting of whales has largely ceased, man-made pollution remains the whales' biggest threat. New genetic and acoustic research methods are underway. Details.
