Abstract

Maine State Planning Office director Evan Richert and developer Richard Berman were among the planners in a Falmouth charrette, a process in which local residents are among the participants in land use planning. This particular charrette involved parcels at the intersection of Maine Route 100 and the Maine Turnpike. These public-private partnerships use "transportation-oriented development," in which longer commutes are used to reduce population density.
