Abstract

The Maine Association of Nonprofits reported that Maine nonprofits pay workers and executive directors significantly less than the nationwide norm. MANP said their salaries are representative of troubles in the Maine economy. The Connecticut Association of Nonprofits found Maine was last among New England states in charitable contributions, and MANP indicated that Maine's gross state product was just 6% of New England's.
